Don't miss the chance to experience the extraordinary Ekaterina Levental in her inspiring autobiographical performances The Border and Queen of Spades. A performer, harpist, singer and playwright, she inspires with personal stories from her past as a refugee. At the time, Ekaterina made the journey from Tashkent (Uzbekistan) to the Netherlands. Now, 30 years later, she is a renowned artist, a multifaceted talent who breaks the boundary between artistic disciplines.
The Border is a moving one-woman show based on diary excerpts by Ekaterina herself. She shares her experiences as a 16-year-old refugee trying to find her way in an unfamiliar society. You see, hear and feel the genuine emotions that Ekaterina conveys with great humor and honesty. This is also evident in Woman in Spades, a performance in which Ekaterina shares the story of her grandmother, and five women of the same generation: Anne Frank, Marilyn Monroe, Maria Callas, Ulrike Meinhof and Dora Gorohovskaya. This powerful piece explores the complex themes and clichés surrounding these women, offering a revealing look into their lives and legacies.
Both performances will show you the transformative power of courage to change and overcome your fears. Expect a hefty dose of inspiration that encourages you to examine your own choices and what they mean. Sometimes there's more to you than meets the eye.
Afterwards, Dialogue in Action will host an after-dinner discussion from 5-7pm. With a simple meal. Participation is free. There is a limited number of participants, so sign up in advance at predikant@muiderkerk.nl
