Often people must process loss or mourning of loved ones alone, whereas it is nicer and healing together. You recognize and acknowledge each other's pain and sorrow. That is why the Light Walk exists in the Molenwijk. Residents from the neighborhood of the Bethelkerk and other interested parties in Amsterdam-Noord connect by commemorating their loved ones together. Because a ritual is an act that helps us realize what is important and gives a place to our feelings.
Carrying a light with the written name of a loved one on a heart, a parade of lights moves through the neighborhood carrying symbolic objects and playing and singing songs of light.
This will be made prior to the Light Walk at various locations in the neighborhood. After the walk, there will be a program of poetry, stories, dance, music and sharing experiences over drinks and snacks.
