Discover the magic of Amsterdam Sinfonietta: classical and modern in harmony
Step into the world of Amsterdam Sinfonietta, one of Holland's leading string orchestras since 1988. With a daring and versatile program, the ensemble takes you from Baroque splendor to contemporary music with a fresh perspective. Thanks to their collaboration with internationally renowned soloists and exploration of genres such as jazz and pop, they give each concert a unique atmosphere. Thus, they have previously toured with Wende, collaborated with the Jussen brothers, and next year they will hit theaters with singer Karsu.
On November 24, the ringleaders of Amsterdam Sinfonietta - violinist Candida Thompson and cellist Tim Posner - along with organist Jeroen Koopman will offer an enchanting concert in the Singelkerk. This musical adventure takes you through different eras, with highlights from both the baroque and modern eras.
Get carried away by the delicate sounds of Johann Paul von Westhoff's "Imitazione delle Campane" and J.S. Bach's virtuosic sonatas, such as the Sonata in e minor and the Gamba Sonata in G major. Discover the rarely performed "Sonata Duodecima" by Baroque composer Isabella Leonarda, an expressive work that has a special place in the program. Also featured is the moving "Castillo Interior" by contemporary composer Pēteris Vasks, a musical tribute to St. Teresa of Ávila.
Experience an evening of musical craftsmanship and emotion, where classical and modern fuse to create an unforgettable experience.
