In this performative ceremony, we move from "There Is No Alternative," as Margaret Thatcher once said of liberal capitalism, to "There Are Many Alternatives." This is done with the help of priestess Tama. She takes you through a musical program saying goodbye to capitalism as the only vision for the future.
Amsterdam, once the cradle of this system at the time of the VOC, has a history that we can now review with an open mind. During The Spirit of Amsterdam, we will hold a contemplative ceremony atop the grave of Michiel de Ruyter, to be collectively inspired to find alternatives.
Featuring poet and performer Julia Beth Harris and multi-instrumentalist Martijn van Ditshuizen.
And:
Chautuileo Tranamil, author, keynote speaker, educator and indigenous lobbyist integrating cosmo visions and restorative justice.
Melissa Koutouzis, co-initiator of Het Woonpotest, board member of Huurders Netwerk Amsterdam and works at the Transnational Institute.
