The Jeruzalemkerk is a Protestant church building on Jan Maijenstraat in Amsterdam's West district of De Baarsjes, near Mercatorplein. The church was built in the years 1928-1929 to a design by the architect Ferdinand Jantzen. Originally they wanted to call the church the Nieuwe Westerkerk, because of its location in Plan West, but eventually chose the name Jerusalem Church. This was taken from the fundraising campaign City without a Temple that was held to finance the church. Since Jerusalem has been a city without a temple since the year 70, this name was appropriate.
