Muiderkerk

Muiderkerk is a Protestant church on Linnaeusstraat in Amsterdam East, on the edge of Oosterpark. The old Muiderkerk, built in 1892, partly burned down in 1989 but the striking tower was spared. The current Muiderkerk was built against the old tower and is part of a 1997 building complex designed by architect Van Hoogevest. The new section does not have the characteristic exterior one expects from a church. The old tower was restored in the early 10s to overcome the overdue maintenance and fire damage still present.
