North Church

The Noorderkerk on the Noordermarkt in Amsterdam was built to a design by Hendrick de Keyser (1565-1621). The church is used by the Noorderkerk congregation of the Protestant Church Amsterdam, part of the PKN. The church was built between 1620 and 1623 in the so-called central construction, the church plan forms a Greek cross, in the axils are built triangular service houses. The Nieuwe Kerk in Groningen, among other places, was built after this example.
